This place is pretty good. The service can be hit or miss during the busy lunch rush. For around 9$ you get a bowl of soup with shrimp chips and an entree. The entree will come out on two plates. One for the rice and one for the food. Personally I love this concept. I knocked down 2 stars, because the place can get pretty cramped and it can be god awfully slow to get your food around the lunch rush.

My co-workers and I love Thai Fortune. We get carry-out more than eating there but we often do that too. Most of the reviewers are correct in that the dining area is sparse. It does fit the hole-in-the-wall restaurant feel. But the place is usually clean and always busy at lunch. The food portions are large and the price is good, normally $7 for lunch. I cannot say that I am a great connoisseur of Thai food but I enjoy the meal that I get. I normally get the same dish, as do the others I know, and it is usually always good. I would recommend going early and at lunch.

This place is pretty awful. Ordered the Pra Ram Long Song curry, which is supposed to be a delicious peanutty sauce, and a Thai iced tea. Let's start with the tea...if you like to drink sugared milk without a hint of tea, you will love their version. The color was off-white and I could not taste tea in it. It might come from a powdered mix, because it was pretty chalky. As far as the curry goes, it was definitely the worst curry of any sort I've ever tasted. It was very sweet, as if they used sugar instead of salt or any other spices. The color was almost a fluorescent orange, the chicken was rubbery, and the dish was relatively inedible. Oh, and it was swimming in grease, too. I ate two bites and pushed it aside. I thought that with the first bite my tastebuds must have been tripping because it was so terrible, so then I took a second bite. Nope, the dish really was that disgusting. Seriously disappointing. The place is really busy, so maybe this was a mistake of a dish that came out from the kitchen, because there's no way they could be so popular serving shiz like that. I'm not sure I could give it another chance considering how awful this experience was. :(

I'm writing this as my food sits in front of me but I am questioning whether I want to eat much more of it. The prices here are good for the portion size, but the food is salt and spice and that's it for flavor. The tom ka soup was a salt bomb with no complexity of flavor that I get at many other thai places (such as lime, cilantro, ginger, garlic with the coconut milk and curry). A couple pieces of chicken in it (which I picked out) looked raw, so I cut into them and yep - raw in the middle. The pad thai curry was swimming in sauce and the noodles were very mushy. I asked for mushrooms instead of meat on the pad thai curry and only got 5 slices of mushroom in it. I couldn't taste the curry in it, either. Just salt and the red pepper flakes. They added a significant amount of pepper flakes for medium spicy, changing the texture of the dish to more gritty as well. I also got a huge mouthful of eggshell. Overall not an enjoyable experience, and I doubt I'll be back for seconds. Post-lunch update: I did not finish either the soup or the pad thai curry. I am usually a leftover fanatic, but I tossed what I had left because the thought of eating any more of it made me feel queasy. An hour later, I got sick.
I hate to be this harsh but the place is almost as disgusting as the food... it was extremely dirty, not to mention that little kids were running around in the kitchen. I ate maybe three bites of the sweet and sour shrimp and felt sick. When the waitress saw that I didn't eat it she said "yeah, most people don't like that". The food here is really good and I have eaten a large share of thai being celiac and all rice noodles is my life. One reviewer said the spice level is indeed higher that typical american taste buds and he was spot on. Regular spicy is actually really freaking spicy not the dumb down version for americans spicy. Pad se ew was great prices very reasonable. Nothing fancy in the dining room or sudo takeout area. Place was packed so get there before noon or you are going to wait and there is no real place to wait. Gotta knock 1 star off for that. You get soup with everything.

I was in a hurry to find lunch during my work hour and since this place is literally down the road from me, I figured why not? I called and ordered a Spicy Noodle for carryout at 12:15. The person who took my order said "Ok, it'll be ready in 15 minutes". I drove to the plaza that Thai Fortune was located in at 12:35 and found the lot pretty jam packed. As I walked into the restaurant, I noticed EVERY seat/table was occupied and at least three other people ahead of me waiting for their food. I noticed a sign near the front that read " For faster service, order your food by 10:30". I thought to myself, "At 10:30, I'm not even thinking about food yet!". It was pretty chaotic with waitresses running back and forth from the kitchen to the dining room, bringing plates to the waiting patrons. It took me until 12:50 to get my food. I rushed back to work to try to eat before my lunch break was over and was pretty disappointed. The food itself looked great--rice noodles with beef and broccoli covered in brown sauce and smelling highly of Sriracha and pepper flakes. However, when I took my first bite, I was completely underwhelmed. I mixed my food together and took another bite and realized that there was no other flavor besides spicy. Everything was cooked well except the sauce itself had no sweetness or saltiness, just hot. The food was priced well for lunch ($5.95) and the staff were friendly enough, but I'm sorry, it did not make up for the lack of flavor.

As a college student, I ran on Thai Fortune. This place was a favorite of several of my friends and coworkers so I have plenty of pent-up experience to unleash in a Yelp review. The actual location is a bit run-down, but I think that adds to its "hole in the wall" character. At lunchtime, this place gets packed, so usually your best bet is just to order out, which is ridiculously fast. They will almost always have your food ready if you arrive after 10 minutes. Taste-wise, I'm in love with the pad woo sene (spelling?). Be careful about spicy levels (I'm sure that's in a review for every Thai place). I have never ventured above medium spice as my friend had his meal ruined by the next spice level. The same family has been running this place for years, and are always nice when I go in to pick up food. They do not price gouge and run between $6 and $10 for most dishes (which get more expensive at dinner time, FYI). Lastly, they offer a 10% discount to Oakland University students which is more than I can say for most other businesses in Auburn Hills. Overall, I hope this place is around for much longer.

If this place is the best Thai restaurant in Michigan as another reviewer said, then I never ever want to live in Michigan. I ordered the Lard Na for dinner which came with hot and sour soup and fried shrimp chips. The Lard Na was totally not what I was expecting. Maybe there are different ways of making Lard Na but I expected it to have more of a dark sauce, but Thai Fortune's Lard Na had more of a transparent sauce that sorta looked like the sauce you get with sweet and sour chicken. The soup was okay but not as good as many hot and sour soups I've had before. This place seems to do a lot of take out business; it's pretty obvious from their lack of investment in decor and furniture that they don't expect people to actually eat here. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a liquor license so no beer. :(

I eat here frequently. The food is inexpensive, good and plentiful, I usually get two meals out of one. My personal favorite is the Gang Dang with Chicken, spiced Thai Hot. The service is fast, friendly and efficient. I have only a few times seen pepper flakes used to spice my food. Most of the time it is finely minced hot peppers. For those that complain because your favorite is not made the same way another place does, I haven't been to a Thai restaurant yet that makes things the same, even the sauces are often different. Look at the ingredients listed before ordering to be sure you are getting what you want rather than assume it is going to be the same as somewhere else's.. The furnishings are very plain so if you are going to have a conniption over that then this is not the place for you. If you like decent food and don't mind very casual atmosphere then this is a good place to eat.

This is my local Thai place. Their food is decent for the price. Menu does not include any Thai curries, which is disappointing. Inside dining area is small and sometimes occupied by the owner's children. Carry out is always fast and friendly - usually ready in 10 minutes or less. Food is very consistent from visit to visit.

Thai eateries are always subjective as so many different places cook the food in so many different ways, but I've been to quite a few in my area and Thai Fortune is my personal favorite (so far). Really good food. One of the best I've been to (in my humble opinion). Very fast for pick-up and very reasonably priced. Take-out portions are much better than some of the other Thai places in the area. It gets packed quickly at lunch time, though. Get there near 11am when they open or wait until after the lunch rush. Best Thai food in Michigan! Medium sized area (30-ish tables which seat 2-4), great for lunch. Place is normally standing room only by 12, so make sure you are there about 11:15 for lunch. You should be able to dine anytime for Dinner. You are served with soup (ranging in spiciness depending on how it is made that day, can normally be described as in between their "medium" and "spicy"), shrimp chips and water. They have a large selection of noodle, fried rice and curry dishes. The portions are pretty large and I normally have enough for lunch and dinner. The place is always packed for lunch and service is great. Lunch is very inexpensive ($6.50 per person) and Dinner is only slightly more expensive (comes in bigger portions). The spiciness ranges from Mild - Medium - Spicy - Hot - Thai Hot. This is an authentic Thai restaurant and unlike other places, they know how to add heat to a meal. Compared to most Thai places, their hot compares to Thai Fortunes "Spicy". You have been warned. Great place to go and try some new food, everything on the menu you can read and understand what it is. Highly recommended.

For most Thai restaurants that I've been to, this one wasn't bad. I liked how they served you a cup of soup with wontons, which were good btw. I decided to try one of the Spring Rolls and it was better than most that I've had. The entrée came out to me as a surprised because of the way it was served. Instead of serving my dish on one plate, it was served on two plates. My rice was separated from the rest of the ingredients. I was skeptical at first but I grew on the concept very quickly. Plus, there was a lot of flavor. I went on a rainy day around 1:00p and it was just dying down by the time I got there. The staff was really nice and extremely catering to their customers. This place may be the closest Thai restaurant where I live and it will always be in my thoughts when I'm hungry for more.

I did not find any fortune on my recent trip to Thai Fortune. I did find an empty restaurant lacking décor, large portions, and a friendly staff who spoke little English. We were the only dine in customers. It was a little awkward sitting at one of the 15 or so tables. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It didn't really have any taste. Both the hot and sour soup and the pineapple curry were spicy, but bland, and a little too sweet. The portions were large enough for a good 3 meals and we both ate for under $20. There are too many other better Thai restaurants in the area. I don't think I'll be returning to Thai Fortune.

We had a take out from this place. We ordered Pad Thai noodles with chicken and Thai salad. Have to say, the portions were really big but the salad was just huge pieces of tomatoe, cucumber and lettuce, tofu. Thats it. Plus, really watery and sweet sauce, I did not like this salad at all. Pad Thai was pretty okay, nothing special but it was just alright, there was only 1 chicken piece though.

This is my local Thai place. Their food is decent for the price. Menu does not include any Thai curries, which is disappointing. Inside dining area is small and sometimes occupied by the owner's children. Carry out is always fast and friendly - usually ready in 10 minutes or less. Food is very consistent from visit to visit.

Thai eateries are always subjective as so many different places cook the food in so many different ways, but I've been to quite a few in my area and Thai Fortune is my personal favorite (so far). Really good food. One of the best I've been to (in my humble opinion). Very fast for pick-up and very reasonably priced. Take-out portions are much better than some of the other Thai places in the area. It gets packed quickly at lunch time, though. Get there near 11am when they open or wait until after the lunch rush. You could wait a while for a table. Just a good testament, though, to how good they are! The Pad Cashew is my favorite. Pad Se-ew, Spice Noodles, etc... All very good!

large portions of mediocre food in a run down place. friendly service. no bar service. no byob either. all the food tasted a little too sweet for my liking. nothing was horrible, but nothing was worth returning for either.

Best Thai food in Michigan! Medium sized area (30-ish tables which seat 2-4), great for lunch. Place is normally standing room only by 12, so make sure you are there about 11:15 for lunch. You should be able to dine anytime for Dinner. You are served with soup (ranging in spiciness depending on how it is made that day, can normally be described as in between their "medium" and "spicy"), shrimp chips and water. They have a large selection of noodle, fried rice and curry dishes. The portions are pretty large and I normally have enough for lunch and dinner. The place is always packed for lunch and service is great. Lunch is very inexpensive ($6.50 per person) and Dinner is only slightly more expensive (comes in bigger portions). The spiciness ranges from Mild - Medium - Spicy - Hot - Thai Hot. This is an authentic Thai restaurant and unlike other places, they know how to add heat to a meal. Compared to most Thai places, their hot compares to Thai Fortunes "Spicy". You have been warned. Great place to go and try some new food, everything on the menu you can read and understand what it is. Highly recommended.

UMMMM. Couldnt disagree more. Just ordered a Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. I guess i forgot to ask for FLAVOR. Pitched it all. Such a major bummer.

Chicken Pad Thai was one of the better I have had in Oakland county. Medium was still pretty spicy.

Great Thai spot in northern Oakland County. The chicken pad thai has a unique sweet honey flavor and spicy at the same time. Very reasonable prices for lunch.

Didn't like it. If you can't make good Pad Thai you aren't any good. We left ours there, and we never leave food. So ick, yuck, and ick.
